The Passage – Video

I was fifteen when my mother took me with her to Constantine, to the grave of my grandfather, Jonathan Elbaz.

Years later, I promised to return to this source.
In 2007, I wandered in the abandoned Jewish cemetery in vain, never finding Jonathan’s grave. I was deeply moved by the solitude of the dead.
If my grandfather hadn’t decided to stay in Constantine after Algeria’s independence in 1962, I wouldn’t have been able to retrace the path of my origins. He is my only link with this land. During this quest I felt him by my side, guiding and protecting me in this city where I was alone.
